The removal of the Holden Commodore VY/VZ headunit requires a special tool, shown on Figure 1. The tool could be purchased from eBay.

The first step is to apply the handbrake and move the gear shift knob as far as possible from the headunit (Figure 2).

Next insert the removal tool in the headunit holes as shown on Figure 3.

Pull the tool handles towards you applying slight force in outwards direction (Figure 4). Important: Applying too much outwards force could crack the plastic headunit facia!
